although most of the times I think J&K is integral part of india, sometimes I tend think, is it worth losing thousads of lives ? Just give kashmir to pak. And if kashmiris don't like it..too bad, thay can then fight to be independent..or just let Kashmir be independent, whether with POK or not..and jammu be with us. end of story.

'What is good for Pak is good for Kashmiris'

PTI[ MONDAY, JUNE 28, 2004 04:44:48 PM ]

Indian Foreign Secretary Shashank (L) with Riaz Khokhar
NEW DELHI: Pakistan on Monday suggested the establishment of a
mechanism to involve the people of Jammu and Kashmir "at some stage"
in the dialogue process to resolve the vexed issue, and said whatever
satisfied Islamabad would satisfy Kashmiris.

"At some stage and point we must come up with a mechanism to associate
representatives of the Kashmiri people because it is their fate that
you are deciding and they must be associated with the process. It is
the most desirable thing to do," Pakistan Foreign Office spokesman
Masood Khan told reporters at the end of the two-day Foreign Secretary
level talks between the two countries.

"But as of now there is no such mechanism. But as you go down the
slope of dialogue and confidence building, you can come up with a
mechanism if there is the requisite goodwill, understanding and
momentum," he said.

Asked if such a mechanism was "mandatory", Khan said it was "imperative".

When pointed out that the Joint Statement issued after the talks
mentioned that the Kashmir issue should be resolved to the
"satisfaction of both sides", he said "what satisfies Pakistan will
ultimately satisfy the Kashmiris. That's the simple answer".

Khan said there were three parties to the dispute and "when you are
resolving the issue, it would be both advisable and sagacious to
consult the people of Jammu and Kashmir because they are the ones who
are to decide their future political dispensation".

Some of these sound awful familiar

Subject:Dilbert Quotes Contest Winners

A magazine recently ran a "Dilbert Quotes" contest.  They were looking for people to submit quotes from their real-life Dilbert-type managers.  Here are the top ten finalists.  [They must be true; how could anyone make these up?]

1."As of tomorrow, employees will only be able to access the   building using individual security cards.

Pictures will be taken next Wednesday and employees will receive their cards in two weeks."
(This was the winning quote from Fred Dales, Microsoft Corp. in Redmond,WA)

2."What I need is an exact list of specific unknown problems we might encounter."  (Lykes Lines Shipping)

3."E-mail is not to be used to pass on information or data.
It should be used only for company business."  (Accounting manager,Electric Best Company)

4."This project is so important, we can't let things that are more important interfere with it."                     (Advertising/Marketing manager,United Parcel Service)

5."Doing it right is no excuse for not meeting the schedule."  (Plant manager, Delco Corporation)

6."No one will believe you solved this problem in one day!  We've been working on it for months.  Now, go act busy for a few weeks and I'll let you know when it's time to tell them."  (R&D supervisor, Minnesota Mining and Manufacturing/3M Corp.)

7.Quote from the Boss:  "Teamwork is a lot of people doing what I say."  (Marketing executive, Citrix Corporation)

8.My sister passed away and her funeral was scheduled for Monday.  When I told my Boss, he said she died on purpose so that I would have to miss work on the busiest day of the year.  He then asked if we could change her burial to Friday.  He said, "That would be better for me."  (Shipping executive, FTD Florists)

9."We know that communication is a problem, but the company is not going to discuss it with the employees."  (Switching supervisor, AT&T Long Lines Division)

10. One day my Boss asked me to submit a status report to him concerning a project I was working on.  I asked him if tomorrow would be soon enough.  He said, "If I wanted it tomorrow, I would have waited until tomorrow to ask for it!"  (Hallmark Cards executive)

Saw 3 movies from Netflix. I joined on Wed for 14 day free trial, after I got offer to join from http://www.snapfish.com, which folks ig reat place to develop your photos. It's cheap, and they scan your pix for free and post the album on their site.

Anyway, I basically decided to watch movies that Farzana does not like. She's coming back on tue and I thot I'd watch all the old classic.

Started with Scarface ( which I had seen longtime back, but I think got up in middle as I couldn't understand the accent), Being John Malkovich and finally Serpico.

All very good movies, loved them. Only I got up late and didnt send the DVDs back today. Now they will go out on monday only !!!!

GMAIL

So, I've been active with google for so long, how come I don't have a gmail account, where as ppl are getting 'em left right and center and they are making money with it.

I am dissapointed.
Problem in XP with detecting CD/DVD drives.

I have faced this problem b4 too, with my desktop, but then I did not have any help.

But this time I got help from customer service of HP, Nirmala, operating from bangalore. Gr8 lady.

Anyway, if you get a problem with device not getting recognized even after uninstalling driver and still get explamation sign against driver with problem report being registry being corrupted (code 19), try the following.

1) Click on Start->Run and type regedit and click on OK

2) Before doing anything, clicnk on My Computer, the File and then Export. Save current registry in some filename

3) Click on plus sign of HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE

4) Click on plus sign of SYSTEM

5) Click on plus sign of CurrentControlSet

6) Click on plus sign of Class

7) Click on {4D36E965-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}

8) Right click on "LowerFilters" on right hand side pane, and then delete

9) Do the same for "UpperFilters" is exists.

10) Reboot.

It should work.
I am so tired trying to book tickets to India

I started last nite, w/ live help from makemytrip.com from almost 9:00 to 11:30. And ended up finding that I do not have many options. Unfortunately that means, we fly not so good airline (Asiana or China via Taipei) and we will not be able to spend time togeather with my sister and her family as they plan to leave by 2nd Jan. And we might just reach there arnd 31st.

That sucks, flying in dec..next time i'm flying in Summer, but anyway, I guess, I'll have to start looking for tickets 9 months in advance.

I hope I'll be able to finalize tomorrow. Good...help me.

Toxic
Kelly's Mission Rock, San Francisco

Last nite myself and Manoj went to Toxic, Desi Dance party arranged by Ecstacy Production. It was fun. It started off slowly and ogt interesting only aftr 12:00. Well, we were there at 10:00 :-) I guess, I was going for first time I was anxious. Since I had put both of us on guest list, we paid only $10.00 and women were free if on guestlist before 12:00.

We went in. It's a kewl place with two lvels. The place was very romantic with deck right on the bay and u can see bay bridge, oakland lights, bay and ships. It's beautiful.

On lower level they played bollywood and bhangra. I was there just for bhangra, but with Manoj almost drunk and staring at lovely, sexy and beautiful girls, I had to dance alone, which, without being drunk seems a little foolish. So, I went out on the deck and enjoyed the beautiful place.

On upper level, they played hip-hop.

It was fun overall. So, I plan to go with Farzana and may be Fasiha when her ankle gets better.

Last nite i slept at 8:00

Yup..i've been getting up at 6:00 every morning this whole week. I was so sleepy when I left work. Then I started watching 2001 Space Odessey.

U wanna sleep, watch that movie..it just doen't move. I dunno who it got hit....anyway, i just had to go to bed to sleep, and then got up again 6:00. Feel much better today after 10 hrs sleep.
Lunch at Gen Ramen
So, I was alone for lunch, as Rich went with Pablo. So, I went to Gen Ramen on Warm Springs.

I've been there before with Steve, but alone..i usually don't go to any restaurant alone. Anyway, I went there and ordered Kimchee Takana Gen..i think, with no meat. Although it was lil tough to explain to the lady..but a guy helped.

It was very very tasty. It's diffrent from Do Henkatsu on Saratoga and moorpark, in that this is miso based, while Do Henkatsu is pork soup based, I forgot whats it called, may be henkatsu itself.

Anyway, so after a few times, it tasted very good. Love it. Only if I cud go often. Cost me $8.12 with tax and is cash only.

Marine National Park

This is a beautiful place. I went to these islands for camping thru world wildlife fund..WWF as it was known as then.

Since it was in 1986-87, when I was 13/14 years old, I do not remember the details. But we stayed on two islands. We travelled by a boat, a big boat to one island. Stayed there over night. At night the waves were crazy. Collected a lot of jelly fishes. Then next day, we went by a sail boat to another island.

THAT WAS WICKED maan...i remember the boat was going from one side to another and I was holding on to the rope so tight, that at then end of the trip, i cudn't open my grip.

Anyway we reached there, had to get down in water with our luggage, which consisted of one suitcase and one sleeping baggage (a big one). Walk what seemd like miles and miles .. me a small kid .. finally reached destination. It was like a dessert..well almost, but then when we went for trekking the next day to the other end...it was the best thing i ever saw...corals..all kind, sponges, electric rays, crabs, jelly fishes, It was beautiful...there were all kind of fishes i had never seen..so shallow water. Maaan, i wish i cud go again.

Next day we started back to the first island we had stayed on, and next day back to Okha. It was fabulous, and a trip I can never forget.
So, I tried to post a few messages by mail. It worked, until I tried to send pix by email. After that none of the emails have been published.

I don't know if it's supported or not, but it sure did hang that part of the system :-)

To buy a house or not to buy ?

I have started rethinking on whether to buy it or not..and my latest thots...not now.  With so many things going on...Farzana's graduation postponed...my job security, my GC, visit to India..too much stress. Can't handle any more stress, not to mention, tight budget. So, I guess Di's mother-in-law's astrolger's prediction will come true.

Shield

Man, last nite's shield was intense. I hope they kick out Shane from the show. He's such a loer..two of his team players, and nice guys are srewed up thanx to him.

Vic's character is so varied..he's brutal, he's funny, he's emotional, he's sneaky and loving father...can't wait for next series.

Tuesday, June 15, 2004

man it's so hot outside. Went for usual walk and now I am sweating and puffing.

So I was aksing Bao, if he would take offense if I called him oriental He's vietnamese. I fail to understand why one would. I can understand why nigger or jap are offensive. Cuz these words came out of hatred and disrespect. I do not think the same for oriental.

My boss said I should use the word "Asian" for being politically correct. Now that confuses me cuz, geographically, being from India, I am an asian too and so are middle eastern ppl.

So, what word should I use without offending any1 when refrening to ppl from china, japan, vietnam, laos etc etc...

Blooging via email

So, I say to all Indians., BOYCOTT CNN.

I was watching a news item on India, and CNN shows whole Jammu and Kashmir in shaded area, outside India's political map. This is ridiculous, Now CNN and not UN is incharge of world politics and policies !!!!!

Saturday, June 12, 2004

Wots this fuss about stem cell research. If embryos have life, then why not charge a murderer of a woman with mutiple counts of muder.

If cells have life, ever time someone cuts oneself or cuts other person, they should be charged with murder 1 :-D

This is ridiculous.

Tuesday, June 01, 2004

So, my boss has me addicted to these japanese soft candies..called HiChew.

They come in different fruits flavour and are yummmmmmmmmmmmmmmy. Thats not all he's got me addicted to.

I started eating Sashimi (LOVE IT), J-Noodles and Mongolian BBQ thanx to him.

Sashimi everyone knows. But what everyone does not know that all places are not same. If you really wanna enjoy sashimi and what the fish (I dunno about other stuff, cuz I don't like it so didn't try it), you have to go to special places like Yuki in Fremont near Ohlone college and Sushi Kuni on D'Anza.

At Sushi Kuni, you should sit on the bar and ask the chef whats good. And try to have what he recommends.

As for J-Noodles, well thats the name he's given to Ramen Noodles places and we specially go to Do Henkotsu on Saratoga and 280. Awesome noodles soup. If you a veggie you may tsill try it, thats what I do, I do not like beef or pork, so I just have it w/o meat. However mind you, the soup is cooked in pork meat..or something like that.
Try no. 1, 3 and kimchi one. And do try their fried rice. It's the best fried rice eva.

There's another place for noodle soup, on Warm Spring called Gen Ramen. Now thats Miso based, you if you order w/o meat, you are having all veggie stuff.
