Problem in XP with detecting CD/DVD drives.

I have faced this problem b4 too, with my desktop, but then I did not have any help.

But this time I got help from customer service of HP, Nirmala, operating from bangalore. Gr8 lady.

Anyway, if you get a problem with device not getting recognized even after uninstalling driver and still get explamation sign against driver with problem report being registry being corrupted (code 19), try the following.

1) Click on Start->Run and type regedit and click on OK

2) Before doing anything, clicnk on My Computer, the File and then Export. Save current registry in some filename

3) Click on plus sign of HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE

4) Click on plus sign of SYSTEM

5) Click on plus sign of CurrentControlSet

6) Click on plus sign of Class

7) Click on {4D36E965-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}

8) Right click on "LowerFilters" on right hand side pane, and then delete

9) Do the same for "UpperFilters" is exists.

10) Reboot.

It should work.
