I was reading article on outsourcing to India in American magazine. And it talked about this girl in BPO center in Mumbai who was caught copying project files into her private yahoo account. And then the article went on to show how tough it is to do business in India with large scale copying and bootlegging.
And then I also remembered about this guy in my ex company, who took leave of adsence citing his mothers illness. The CEO (British Indian) also loaned him money in good faith to help him out in his troubled times. And later we find out he is in USA working for another company !!!
With so many cases you hear about well educated individual coming from good family background, it makes me wonder if we Indians are crooked by nature ?
On the otherhand, I have friend, who works for Pepsi, and he is so proud to work for Pepsi, that he does not drink any other drink. Not only that, he yells at me, when he sees I am drinking Coke :-). Then my best friend, advised me never to cheat on Insurance, cuz that affects every one, unlike many Americans who we hear commit insurance fraud. And ofcourse my brother in law, and my idols, my father and grand father, who have lived all their life with integrity and straight.
So, then I come to conclusion, that we Indians are like any other people of the world. There are good and bad. Since there are people in US who are against outsourcing, they will highlite the cons in India, not recognizing hardwork of thousands of professionals who bring so much profit in their pockets.
However I do think, due to immense competition ( we are after all a country of over 1,000,000,000 people), an individual has to fight to survive and then it becomes easy to look for ways to become better than most.
