Receive email/email alert on TV

Here's a scenario:-

You break your arm, and so can't do anything much other than sit whole day in front of TV watching all movies you always wanted to see. But, you also don't want to lose track of what happening at work or with friends with whom you are used to contacting everyday.

Wouldn't it be great, if you could get email or email alert on your TV. So, basically, you configure your system such that, it checks POP3 account(s) every minute, just like outlook doess at work. You set filters, you don't want to know about all emails. Say, you set alerts for emails from close family and your boss.

As soon as an email comes, you get a small alert on your TV. You pause the movie you were watching, switch the channel to say 99 or to video1, and now your TV becomes your computer monitor. Use the remote to browse and read email. You could add bluetooth support, and now you cud also type, but thats a little difficult since your arm is broken. But, atleast, you can read emails and keep abreast.
